Ottawa to Maniwaki
As Paulette and I start out,
the sky is clear and the temperature is a very pleasant 23 degrees. We go to the
Byward Market in Ottawa to pick up strawberries, blueberries and fresh tomatoes as gifts
for our friends at Chisasibi. There are crowds of people at the market. Mostly
lookers, those to look at, food vendors, little food specialty stores and a few buyers on
this Monday afternoon.

Maniwaki to Ottawa to Matagami
I wake up at about 7.15
am, quickly shower and get dressed. I must be at the garage to instruct the mechanic
to fix my car. I know if we accomplish the plan it will be a long day of driving.....

Matagami to Radisson to Chisasibi
I awaken early at 7.00 am
and shower. After I am ready, I go out to check the car and get ready for the trip.
Looking out the window I see that the car is covered by a heavy dew and there is
not a cloud in the sky.
It is going to be a great day to travel and see the scenery...

Chisasibi - On James Bay
This place is so quiet
that I can hear the sound of my ballpoint pen when I write notes on my steno pad.
When making this comment to Sherman our Cree guide, he replied with a smile,
"You probably were using a noisy pen." .... Click Here to Continue

Travel
Diary ...

Joe Lor
I think that when one
wants to explore the nature of a different culture it is important to empty one's mind
before being exposed.
One way to do this is to drive for hours listening to the rhythmic sound of my
car, breathing and feeling the clean pure Canadian air blowing in my face from an open car
window and smelling the pines and spruce trees as I pass.
As time passes, I have found that the environment cleanses my mind of past problems
distancing me from where I was and opening my mind in anticipation for what there is to
be.
A ride in an airplane that lasts under three hours just doesn't cut it.
There is too much mind clutter for this sort of experience.
